Spring Equinox Celebration

Join Rebecca M, Risa G and TBY as we celebrate the Spring Equinox with an energizing 108 Sun Salutations w/Rebecca followed directly by a rejuvenating Yoga Nidra w/Risa

Many cultures hold 108 as a sacred number saying that:
1 represents God, the universe, or your own highest truth
0 represents emptiness and humility in spiritual practice
8 represents infinity and timelessness.

Help us welcome longer days of light and warmth by practicing 108 sun salutations for the vernal equinox. Mark a transition and cleanse your body with movement first then follow up with a restorative deep meditative yoga Nidra (translates to yoga sleep).  Feel just like you're coming out of a deep winter hibernation ready to burst into spring! Leave feeling energized and refreshed! We will meet at our Campus location 338 1/2 South State.

Beginning at 4 pm, and lasting for a total of approximately 2 hours.

Traditionally, practicing 108 Sun Salutations is reserved for the change of the seasons. 108 is a sacred number for Buddhism, Hinduism and Yoga. This number also connects the Sun, Moon, and Earth: The average distance of the Sun and the Moon to Earth is 108 times their respective diameters.

Mythology of Yoga: A History of the Shapes We Make

Have you ever wondered where tree pose got its name? Or the mythology behind warrior pose? And where the shapes we make in yoga class come from? Well, if you’ve been losing sleep over these thoughts, we have something for you! Join Risa for a special, 4-week exploration into the mythology of yoga. Each week, we will take a deep dive into the history and mythology of the poses we practice all the time. The series will be broken up into four segments based on the historical categorization of the pose: poses of the yogi, poses of the gods, poses of the sages, poses of animals and Earth.

Ok, so how will we cover alllll this material in 4 short weeks?! Great question! Each week, you’ll receive a set of pre-recorded lectures chock full of all the mythological yogic history you could dream of. Then, on Tuesday evenings we will convene for a live stream group discussion to dive deeper into topics of interest. This way, the series is tailored towards the group! And, since we recognize that it can be hard to commit these days, all group discussions will be recorded in case of a time conflict. We can’t wait to geek out on yoga mythology with you all!

P.S. This workshop will count as 15 hours of continued education for Registered Yoga Teachers :)
